*Edit*: Heya future Mark here. Just thought I'd add a rough map of where this post is talking about.

Another day another 4wd tour! This time of Arnhemland with "great divide" tours.
We all met up the night earlier, to get to know each other and talk about the trip.
The first part of our trip was into west Arnhemland. The first stop was Wiligi Outstation... However this required a drive across the famous:
Cahill's Crossing: A deadly tidal wet river crossing infested with crocs either side. We had spent the day before watching fool hardy adventurers make the crossing while crocodiles surrounded them, in high flowing waters.

However, due to the unfortunate planning and experience of our tour leaders. Our crossing was rather uneventful. We even have video proof!.
Once that was done we had a quick stop to look at some rock art.
//TODO: get photos
Then it was onto Willigi outstation for two nights. We got ourselves a beautiful camp spot right on the beach.

Had a boat trip over to a nice little island in the bay. Which involved a few hijinks when launching the boat from the beach (it may had gotten completely beached. We also managed to snap the winch cable on the trailer).

The last night, because I am so nice (I'm also the most humble person in the world). I made the group scones in the camp oven.

Next stop, Coburg Peninsula (garig gunak barlu) again another beautiful camp spot on the beach. This time with glorious sunsets.

This spot included an amazing talk with Ben on of the Rangers and traditional owners, a few croc sightings, also turtles and dolphins, a search for the fabled Shangrila (wet lands, that only Claire and I could find for some reason), a drive around the peninsula and some interesting reading at the information centre.
Oh and I nearly forgot! The group got some black lip oysters while we were driving around the peninsula. The cooking of which was very reminiscent of the opening ape scene from 2001 space odesy.
Then unfortunately our time in western arnhemland was over. It was back down and over Cahill's crossing (again, it was very easy) a pit stop in Jabiru and onto Bark Hut for some amazing pizza.
The next day it was onto Adelaide River via the Crocodile Jumping Tour which was an amazing experience. Which I think the photos speak for themselves.

In fact there was a competition for the best jumping croc and diving bird photo taken on the tour. However, it appears we all won, as no winner was ever picked 🤣
And how could I forget... We celebrated our 10th anniversary at Adelaide river!.
The next day was a big day trip to Litchfield National Park which was an amazing day, there was; swimming in Wangi falls, termite mound viewing, finished up by a drive down the Reynolds river 4wd track with its stunning scenery and water crossings.
Our next stop before starting the journey into East Arnhemland was Katherine via the lovely swimming hole called Katherine George / Nitmiluk.
To be continued!......
